Pokémon Pearl 14-02-2008  Article: Platform: Nintendo DS Developer: Game Freak Publisher: Nintendo Genre: Role Playing Game  Pokémon Pearl's story The game is very slow at the beginning, mainly storylines and movies. At this time you can only plod along (no running or bike yet), very slow indeed! You and your Rival go on a hunt for a legendary Red Garydos to the near by lake. You meet up with the Professor and his "student" (He/She is whoever you did not pick at the beginning). They walk away but forget a suitcase, you go over to pick it up but get attacked by wild birds. You look in the suitcase and find 3 Pokéballs. It will contain the Pokémon where you start with. And of course you need to against those birds! And the game begins...  New stuff! The game is like any other older generation Pokémon games. You have to fight the gym leaders and work your way to the League! This newer release has 150 brand new Pokémon you can catch! There is a new Pokédex and brand new items. They have made use of the DS' abillity of Wi-Fi which allows you to battle/trade with people over the world. The GTS (Global Trade System) allows you to select a Pokémon you want to trade for another over the world! There is also a Pokéwatch which sits in the touchscreen. You collect Apps for it which contain different things to help you on your way!  Our criticism and conclusion I think that the Touch screen could be used alot more but it's defintley used throughout the game. I also wish that you could move through the Watch apps while the menu is up or you are talking to people. The menu system is also quite confusing. Sometimes you need to use the Up/Down buttons and suddenly you need to use the Touch Screen. The sound is pretty similar to the older games but the quality is improved. Game Freak has used some of the 3D rendering that the DS can render but they still haven't used what the Nintendo DS has to offer. Our total score would be 4 of the 5 stars! Source: Productrating:
